Melissa's tale begins with her parents, devout followers of conflicting gods. Their lives were consumed by endless conflict, each devoted to their deity. Despite their relentless battles, neither perished at the other's hand. Instead, they chose to compete through time, jesting that the survivor would prove superior. Amidst this, Melissa was born.
Raised by her mother to honor the dead and with her her father visiting every now and then, Melissa developed a talent for music and art. As she grew, she wandered graveyards and crypts, using her singing to pay homage to the departed. As a child, Melissa effortlessly conversed with spirits, but with age, her connection faltered. Realizing her singing could still reach them, she dedicated herself to entertaining the deceased, whom she felt deserved reverence.
Despite her desire for a peaceful existence, Melissa's parents' defiance of their vow to the gods stirred divine anger. They pushed her away to shield her from this wrath, but its lingering presence continues to haunt her.
